This is a World War 1 field artillery telescope and stand. The Ryland and Sons ltd telescope is made out of leather and brass. It is etched with London 1917, number 128. The base is made out of wood and metal, and was manufactured by Wottway and Co Ltd in 1915, number 2291. The tripod has two section legs allowing for use of the telescope at full height, or at reduced height (for trench use).
Condition: In excellent condition given its age and original use. The leather strap that holds the cap is broken. In its current condition it is more decorative than functional, however it may be repairable.
