Nellie was born in 1976 in the Kintore region located within the Northern Territory. She is the younger sister of the renowned Central Australian artist Elizabeth Marks Nakamarra. She depicts Lightening Dreaming, Women’s Traveling stories, and My Country in her paintings. Nellie has a distinct style and her application is both striking and bold. Strong earth tones are used to depict her land and the sacred sites Nellie and her family traveled to and from. Concentric circles are used to represent sacred women’s sites while linear patterns emerging from these circles represent the women’s sites while linear patterns emerging from these circles represent the women travelling from sacred site to sacred site.
